RARE OLD LOIRE WINE
Donated by Michael Broadbent
Anjou--Vintage 1928
Caves de La Maison Prunier, Paris Wax seal, excellent level
Purchased at the memorable Prunier sale at Christie's in 1982.
1928 was the greatest vintage between 1921 and 1937. Selected in 1929 from an estate in Rablay by M. Prunier on one of his regular Spring buying trips and bottled in the Prunier Traktir cellars near the Arc de Triomphe and never moved until shipped to London for sale. Of the many bottles tasted not one has been less than outstanding: pure gold colour, soft, waxy, honeyed bouquet; medium sweet, lovely flavour, excellent life-sustaining acidity. Last tasted accompanying Dover sole at a Christie boardroom lunch in March this year
