The hair and headdress of the main drawing is close to that in a number of drawings identified by Schiff as representing Mrs Fuseli, S. 1084-6, all dated by him to the early 1790s. On the left is a rough sketch of a man turning away with a cloak over his shoulder; also an eye and, to be seen from the left-hand edge of the sheet, a schematic drawing of a nose and mouth.
The inscription 'I am with great respect' suggests Fuseli trying out his polite English. The Greek is a passage from Homer's Iliad Book IV< vv. 145-7
