Rubans D'Acier' within a silver oval, case-hardened tang with engraved and gilt foliage within a gilt dotted border, engraved case-hardened flat locks signed in gold within silver ovals, the hammers chiselled as monsters with gilt eyes, figured walnut half-stock, herringbone chequered grip and fore-end, the former carved at the base with a lion's mask in relief, the butt carved with a scaled monster with a scroll of foliage issuing from its beaked mouth behind the cheek-piece, foliate engraved steel mounts including trigger-guard decorated with engraved and gilt foliage, flowers and a star, the locks and foliate engraved shaped butt-plate bordered by silver stars inlaid in the stock, silver escutcheon engraved with the figure of Diana, turned silver ramrod-pipes, sling swivels, original horn-tipped whalebone ramrod, and most of its original finish, by Adam Rosen à Dyck, circa 1830-40 30in. barrels [E.449]
