A FINE GHAYE PATENT 20-BORE D.B. PIN-FIRE RIFLE with browned twist sighted barrels rifled with six grooves and signed in gold on the rib, iron fore-end icorporating the drop-down lever which causes the barrels to slide forward for loading, the lever stamped 'L. Ghaye Acier Fondu' and with blued spur, long breech tang with folding peep-sight and incorporating an oval gold-encrusted escutcheon with the full arms of Salm under a crown, highly figured walnut butt (minor cracks) with cheek-piece, steel scrolled trigger-guard and butt-plate, the former with spurred horn tang pierced with scrollwork, the fore-end, locks and mounts retaining their case-hardened finish and chiselled and engraved throughout with running foliage involving panels with animals of the chase, sling swivels, and much of its original finish, signed U. Roos & Sohn In Stuttgart, circa 1857-60
