A FINE GERMAN D.B. PERCUSSION COMBINED SPORTING RIFLE AND GUN with octagonal sighted twist barrels, the right barrel rifled with eight grooves, signed in silver at the breech between silver inlaid vines, gold lines, foliate engraved tang, engraved locks signed in gold, fitted with nipple-guards, and decorated with a gold stag on one side, and a tethered hound on the other, each within a landscape, the hammers chiselled as winged monsters picked out in silver and gold, figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip and fore-end, cheek-piece, patch-box containing two worms, the ebony cover carved as a grotesque mask, its tongue forming the release button, butt-plate and trigger-guard of dark horn, iron heel-plate engraved with a putto, silver escutcheon engraved with a monogram under a royal crown, sling swivels, set trigger, and original iron-tipped wooden ramrod, by F.
