ANOTHER WHEEL-LOCK SPORTING RIFLE, the barrel (back-sight missing) rifled with eight grooves, dated on the top flat, and decorated with six deeply struck designs of scrolls, the breech struck twice with barrelsmith's mark HN, a tree between, and cut with sighting groove, flat lock engraved with a unicorn in pursuit of a fox amid scrolling foliage, iron wheel-cover engraved with a coronet and two lion supporters, pierced cock engraved with monsters, full stock (fore-stock replaced) inlaid with shaped and engraved horn panels, the cheek-piece (wormed) inlaid with a horn stag (repaired), hounds and flowers and foliage, and opposite the lock with two marine monsters, horn patch-box cover (repaired) engraved with a hind and flowers and foliage, engraved horn ramrod-pipe and fore-end cap, indented iron trigger-guard, set trigger (incomplete), and later horn-tipped ramrod, dated 1674
