Penhaligon, joined the Royal Navy 1890; was noted for valuable service in working boats etc., on occasion of the Moslem disturbance at Candia, Crete, September 1898 and rated Chief Stoker by the C. in C.; awarded L.S.G.C. 1907 and a duplicate the following year
Richard Charles Penhaligon, Stoker 1st. Class, father of Major T. E. J. Penhaligon, was killed when Submarine D5 was mined in the North Sea, 3 November 1914
Major Thomas Edward James Penhaligon was killed in action, Burma, 11 April 1945 and was buried in the Taukkyan War Cemetery, Rangoon
