Captain James Noble Armstrong B.A., M.D., T.C.D., became M.B. 1914 and Lieutenant R.A.M.C., August the same year; Captain 1915, attached 2nd. Bn. Durham Light Infantry; served in base hospitals at Le Havre and Boulogne before being appointed Medical Officer to the Durham L.I.; Captain Armstrong was killed in action 22 August 1915, and is buried in The Hop Store Cemetery, Vlamertinghe
