INDENTMr. J. W. Wakeham served in H.M.S. Hogue in the Baltic 1854-55; he joined the Chilean Navy as Chief Gunnery Officer, 1875, and served in the Admirante Cochrane during the war of 1878-81 against Peru and Bolivia; present at the capture of the Peruvian Monitor Hauscar; severely wounded during the bombardment of Arica; commissioned to superintend the construction and gunnery installation of the Chilean cruisers Esmerelda and Artura Pratte
