Two parts in one volume (without the Supplement with 5 plates) 2° (460 x 330 mm.), printed title in English and French, 53 (of 54) fine hand-coloured plates by Pietro Fabris, each edged in black and grey wash border with leaf of double-column descriptive text in English and French (lacking map, introduction, plate I and text for plate I; approx. 4 plates with slight spots and stains mainly confined to the wash borders). Contemporary half sheep (somewhat rubbed and worn), ownership inscription in ink in French dated 1781 "Ces Duex tomes apartiennent a Madame la Baronne de Nagell ..." on blank before title. Sold not subject to return.

FIRST EDITION. The plates are of fine quality, so well coloured as to be scarcely distinguishable from the original drawings. Hamilton himself, wearing a red coat, appears in many of them.
