A [?] Persian metal celestial globe. Unsigned and undated.

An unusual Islamic celestial globe, diameter 7 ½ inches (19cm), overall height 11 inches (28cm). The white metal sphere constructed without obvious joins, elaborately engraved with Ptolemaic constellations and figures, upwards of a thousand stars indicated by a point and circle, the eclpitic and celestial equator graduated in degrees, every sixth labelled in abjad letter numerals, the number sequence repeating every 30° on the ecliptic and every 90° along the equator; further engraved with with the ecliptic, latitude, tropic and polar circles, zodiacal houses, equinoctial colure, solistal colure and the names of constellations and major stars. Axis pin through poles, the globe mounted horizontally on a graduated unnumbered horizon ring, silver plated brass stand, four baluster turned columns with stepped plinth feet, united by stretchers.
