A very similar clock signed Cugnier, Leschot in the Musée d'Horlogerie, la Chaux-de-Fonds, is illustrated C. Allix, Carriage Clocks, Woodbridge, 1974, p.22, fig. 1/28. This type of clock, which preceeded the pendule de voyage, first appeared in France around 1785 and retained its typical form until about 1820.
