Lot Essay

The fine quality of the casting and of the chiselling on the present bronze suggest that this Hercules may have come from the celebrated Zoffoli or Righetti workshops for the Grand Tourist market. Both Roman makers included a Farnese Hercules in their lists for sale ( F. Haskell & N. Penny, op.cit.)
