A GERMAN 22-BORE D.B. PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN with rebrowned twist sighted barrels with gilt bands at the muzzles and breeches, case-hardened engraved tang, case-hardened foliate engraved back-action locks each signed in gold within a gold oval, pierced hammers engraved with a coiled serpent, and gravitating stops each terminating in a grotesque head, highly figured walnut half-stock carved at the base of the grip with a Chinese dragon's head in the round, the butt with cheek-piece terminating in a foliated scroll carved in low relief, integral trigger-guard carved within a beaded border with initials JS for Fürst Josef, engraved case-hardened iron mounts including trigger-guard finial and butt-plate, engraved silver escutcheon gilt against a blued ground with the crowned arms of Salm within mantling, sling swivels, silver ramrod-pipes, horn-tipped whalebone ramrod, and some original finish, by Adam Rosen in Dyck, circa 1830-40
