PIN-FIRE SPORTING GUN with browned twist sighted barrels signed in gold on the rib, gold lines and a panel of gold strapwork at the breech, case-hardened long breech tang engraved with scrolling foliage and incorporating an oval gold-encrusted escutcheon with the full arms of Salm within mantling under a crown, case-hardened back-action locks engraved with scrolling foliage and a hound, and two pheasants respectively, highly figured fore-end and butt, the former incorporating the drop-down lever, cheek-piece, chequered grip, case-hardened mounts engraved with scrolling foliage including butt-plate and trigger-guard, the latter with a lynx in a mountainous landscape and with spurred horn tang pierced with scrollwork, sling swivels, and some original finish, signed Jacob Pilartz in Neuss, circa 1857-60
