BREECH-LOADING PERCUSSION RIFLE with browned twist sighted tip-up barrels signed in gold on the rib, and each rifled with eight grooves, blued adjustable back-sight (fore-sight defective), long tang engraved with foliage and incorporating an oval gold-encrusted escutcheon with the full arms of Salm under a crown, case-hardened scroll engraved action chiselled with a fox on one side and a boar beset by hounds on the other, case-hardened scroll engraved under-lever, case-hardened shaped scroll engraved back-action locks chiselled with two boars on one side and a stag on the other, both within a landscape, safety-bolsters, figured walnut fore-end and butt, the latter with cheek-piece, scroll engraved case-hardened mounts including butt-plate and trigger-guard, the latter with spurred horn tang pierced with scrollwork, sling swivels, and much original finish, signed H.
