A WHEEL-LOCK SPORTING GUN with associated swamped octagonal sighted barrel grooved at the breech, flat lock struck with Strasburg mark (Neue Støckel 1633), with annular wheel-bracket, and pierced bridle to the cock-spring (pan-cover release button missing), figured full stock (fore-stock adapted) inlaid with staghorn lines, pellets, and panels finely engraved with animals and scenes of the chase, enriched with engraved mother-of-pearl plaques engraved with flowerheads and further animals, and on the cheek-piece with a sportsman and his dog (some inlay missing, some later), iron trigger-guard, set trigger, and engraved staghorn patch-box cover (base-plate missing) and fore-end cap (ramrod missing), circa 1650
