A Castelli rectangular allegorical plaque of Europa
Early 18th Century
Painted in the workshop of Aurelio Grue with a figure of a courtly lady emblematic of Europe depicted below a parasol held by an attendant and escorted by a gallant, a second attendant holding her train, menaced by two Turkish horsemen behind her, a pillared building to one side above the inscription EUROPA, within a framed border (upper left corner restuck and restored)
