1962 TRIUMPH VITESSE SALOON
Registration No. To be announced
Chassis No. HB5710DLO
Engine No. HB5639HE
Right hand drive.
In 1959 the revolutionary Triumph Herald was launched powered by the Standard Ten's 948cc four cylinder engine and four-speed gearbox. The Michelotti designed body reverted back to an independent chassis with bolt on body panels, independent all round suspension with swing rear axle and the smallest turning circle of any production car. The model was a great success in both coupe and saloon versions, but lacked top end performance, so in 1962 the Triumph Vitesse was introduced which in reality was a six cylinder Herald. The only body changes being quadruple headlights, a newly designed grille and enlarged bonnet. The new 1596cc overhead valve six cylinder engine was a small bore version of the 2-litre Standard Vanguard Six providing 70bhp that gave the Vitesse a very sporting performance with a top speed of 90mph.
This well cared for 1962 Vitesse attractively finished in two tone blue and white is a good example of what has become a popular classic.
