1954 WOLSELEY 4/44 SALOON
Registration No. KSK 817
Chassis No. WAA13/7237
Engine No. 6697
Right hand drive.
The first post-war unitary body styled Wolseley was introduced in 1949 as the 4/50 using a 1476cc overhead camshaft engine which was replaced in 1953 with a new lower line 4/44 model powered by a detuned 1250cc overhead valve four cylinder MG TD engine developing 46bhp. The quality tradition of Wolseley was retained with luxurious interior appointments of wooden fascia and leather upholstery. It was powered by the new Austin Cambridge 1½-litre B Series engine.
The 4/44 has excellent road holding qualities with coil spring suspension and the column change four-speed synchromesh gearbox provides a cruising speed of over 70mph. This 1954 model is in very good original condition, having had only two owners since 1978 and although the chromework on the bumpers is poor, it is easily restorable.
