1963 RILEY ONE POINT FIVE SALOON
Registration No. XMR 686A
Chassis No. RHS27341
Engine No. 15RDUH2573
Right hand drive.
In 1952 the British Motor Corporation was formed by the merger of the Austin and Morris Group which included Riley. After an absence of several years a new 1½-litre Riley was introduced in 1958 known as the "One Point Five" with an attractive sporting four door saloon bodywork which it shared with the similar Wolseley 1500. This was the first unitary construction Riley and was powered by the 1489cc BMC B Series engine with twin SU carburettors as used in the MGA sports cars. The model retained the distinctive traditional Riley radiator grille and was luxuriously appointed with polished walnut dashboard and leather upholstery. The lively 68bhp B Series engine provided a genuine 90mph performance and with its independent front suspension and four speed MGA gearbox became a highly respected sporting saloon which provided many sporting successes in saloon car racing and rallying.
This Riley is in very original condition and up until recently was in every day use, but has suffered from rusting in the sills and around the wheel arches. The desirability of this model makes it a viable restoration project and the necessary parts are all available.
