Spain, twelfth century

manuscript on vellum, 26ff. as numbered, each with 7ll. of flowing brown maghribi, letter pointing in red, blue, yellow and green, with gold knots between verses, a gold shell-shape to mark every fifth verse often repeated in the margin, a gold and polychrome concentric roundel to mark every tenth, sura headings in gold kufic outlined in black and highlighted in red with finely drawn gold and polychrome marginal medallion of interwoven arabesques, (damage to edges, repairs, some staining and creasing)
