a book of wisdom made up of maxims and aphorisms relevant to rulers and ministers, Persian manuscript on ivory gold-sprinkled paper, 11ff. plus two flyleaves, each with 8ll. of exquisite black nasta'liq, gold commas between phrases, occasional words in gold, (negligible wear), each folio mounted in Bokhara on variously coloured paper, around an inner margin of contrasting colour between gold and polychrome rules, inset with cartouches of further contrasting colour, both beautifully painted in gold scrolls alternating with split palmette scrolls, (minor smudges and stains), the heading written in fine white ornamental kufic and illuminated predominantly in gold and blue, the flyleaves finely painted with bold gold meandering floral sprays (some staining and smudging), black lacquer binding contemporary with the margins and made for them painted with gold and polychrome floral sprays (worn and repaired), light brown morocco doublures with gold, green and blue decoupé medallion and sprandrels (very minor damages)
