INDENTCaptain George Dixon, born 1888, Sale, Cheshire, educated Manchester Central School and Manchester University, joined the University O.T.C. and was subsequently commissioned into the Special Reserve Manchester Regiment, 18 May 1912; on the outbreak of War he joined his Regiment at the Front, August 1914, and was advanced to Temporary Captain; was killed in action leading a bayonet attack at Les Trois Maisons, near La Bassee, France, 20 October 1914 (Mentioned in Sir John French's Despatches)

Second Lieutenant Charles Lewis, born 1891, Chittlehampton, educated Devon County School and St Catherine's, Oxford; volunteered for active service at the outbreak of War and enlisted 10th Bn. Devon Regiment, 13 September 1914; proceeded to Salonika October 1915, returned home and was gazetted 2nd Lt. 6th Bn. Manchester Regiment, 18 September 1917; Lieutenant Lewis was killed in action on Manchester Hill, outside St Quentin, on the first day of the German March Offensive, 21 March 1918; he is commemorated on the Pozières Memorial (Ruvigny's Roll of Honour, Vol. IV refers)
