INDENT Lieutenant Christopher John Heblethwaite, born 1884 at Chester, educated Uppingham School and Trinity College, Cambridge, served with the British South Africa Police 1905-1907, attaining the rank of Corporal; he was appointed Justice of the Peace in Nalola Sub-District of the Barotse District by the British South Africa Company, and on the outbreak of the Great War joined the Nigerian Field Force; Lieutenant Heblethwaite was killed leading a patrol against a small party of German troops holding a position in the village of Maio Kalelo inside German West Africa, East of Maio Farau, 7 April 1915. He was buried in Maio Kalei Miltary Grave, and is commemorated on the War Memorial, Trinity College Chapel
