Its Louis XVI style, with Corinthian column supports and flower-festooned 'Apollo' tablet and bacchic vase, relates to the 'antique' furniture patterns, such as the carver and furniture designer Jean Louis Prieur, published in the 1760's, and which inspired the work of carvers such as Michel-Victor Cruchet during the reign of Louis-Philippe.
