A MAJOLICA BROWN-GROUND JARDINIÈRE of fluted and compressed form, the sides moulded in relief with four lion's masks glazed in shaded green and yellow, below a flared neck and an everted yellow-glazed rim moulded with a band of gadroons, the interior glazed in green, raised on a waisted stem and flared foot moulded with a yellow band of spiralling gadroons, on a hexagonal base (two chips and a small crack to base, glaze chips to masks), circa 1880
