A MINTON MAJOLICA EWER of broad globular form, the manganese body moulded in high relief with pairs of 17th Century-style figures drinking within circular blue cartouches outlined in yellow, divided by beaded circular medallions enclosing moustachioed male masks, conjoined by elaborate knotted and interlaced moulded grey-blue strapwork, below a knopped and flared blue neck with a white shield below the lip, the scroll handle with a grotesque mask, the interior glazed in pink and with a yellow line rim (chip to a beaker on one moulded cartouche), impressed marks, model number 1143, date code for 1872
