AN UNUSUAL FRENCH CLOSED BURGONET of bright steel, with tall two-piece fluted skull of conical form with prominent ogival comb, truncated and pierced at the apex for a finial (missing), at the base a tubular steel plume-pipe, with a further pair above near the top, bevor (slightly cracked) with locking-catch on the right (stud missing), pivoted at the same point on either side as the fall, the latter fluted en suite with the skull, strongly downcurved over the face and with deep arched flanges over the eyes divided by a prominent central rib continuing the comb, three gorget plates at front and rear (front edge cracked), the bottom ones exceptionally deep and drawn down to a prominent central point, plain turned edges and domed steel lining rivets throughout, circa 1630
