This type of multi-purpose table fitted with flaps, sliding top and concealed nest-of-drawers, featured in a 1793 engraving of a 'Harlequin Pembroke Table' in Thomas Sheraton's, The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Drawing Book, 1794, pl.56.
