Persia, early sixteenth century

manuscript on ivory paper, 4ff., each with 25ll. of elegant black nasta'liq, intercolumnar divisions in gold between black rules, headings in larger red or gold naskh, occasional lines written diagonally with gold floral sprays in the interstices,(minor staining to folio edges, very slight smudging), the opening double folio extrememly finely illuminated in gold and polychrome on a blue ground with headings in white naskh and the text within gold cross-hatched clouds (negligible smudging and rubbing), the opening page with an equally finely illuminated medallion containing an inscription in white naskh (very slight rubbing),
