AN ATTIC WHITE GROUND BLACK-FIGURE LEKYTHOS, attributed to the Athena Painter, 500-490 B.C.

Depicting a wreathed figure of Apollo running to the right looking back, nude apart from a chlamys, his right arm extended, his left hand holding a bow and two arrows. The hindquarters of a jumping caprid are visible to the right. There is an indecipherable inscription to the right of the god

Finely incised detail on the face, hair and muscles

Condition: repaired, with small area of black glaze lost; forepart of animal missing and restored
