Note:
Viscount St. Vincent was attached to the 17th Lancers and went from England to the Cape with them. He was placed on the staff as an extra A.D.C. to Major-General Frederick Marshall, C.M.G., and acted in that capacity until the advance into Zululand. He again joined the 17th Lancers and was present at the cavalry affair at Erzungayan and at Ulundi.
