8° (157 x 97mm.). Collation: a-e4 (title with coloured woodcut coat-of-arms, Lhonneur); f-g4 (divisional title with woodcut, Les biens aymez par bonne grace et bien venus entre les nobles). Bastarda type. Fine late-19th-century gold-tooled and inlaid red morocco, decorated to a 16th-century design of interlace and floral ornament, blue morocco doublures with a gilt floral semé, blue watered silk free endleaves, gilt and gauffered edges, by Lortic, red morocco pull-off case. Provenance: motto Si ton desir a force inscribed by an early owner; La Croix-Laval (bookplate); Robert Hoe (1912 New York sale, lot 944, $300 to G.D.Smith); Mortimer L. Schiff (bookplate).
EXTREMELY RARE FIRST EDITION of both poems. The only other known copy lacks the final leaf (Paris, Bibliothèque Nationale). Cioranesco 2282; Renouard-Moreau III, 1457.
