A Regency mahogany year-going perpetual calendar astronomical long case clock

The case with a panelled plinth on a double skirted base, arched trunk door, the hood with stop-chamfered angles supporting a shallow break-arch top with acroteria finials, the silvered regulator type dial engraved Francis Irvinden, Brentfordn the arch above the pendulum regulation sector with blued steel hand, the main dial with outer minute ring circling the hours and seconds rings, additional calendar rings for moon phase (repainted), date, months of the year and high water at London, latches to the dial feet and to the substanial six pillar movement with Graham's deadbeat escapement, the train having six wheels each with six crossings, their pivots with unusual chamferd brass end-caps, well crafted steel-rod pendulum (later bob) and large rectangular lead weight; the inside of the case papered with fascinating historical comments and anecdotes by previous owners.

Provenance
By repute originally sold to a Miss Manning of Eastway ( died, 1845). By descent to Dr Eusebuis Rause, (died 18817) and buried at West Putford.
Thence to Dr Ezekial Rause (his nephew) of Bideford, died 9th February 1898 and then sold at public auction on 11th March 1898 at Bideford.
Purchased by Mr Henry Ascott, ex Mayor of Bideford and proprietor of the New Inn on behalf of Mr Richard James Reese M.a, MD. of the local government board, Whitehall; subsequently restored by Messers Rowley of Clarkenwell.
