(Lacking front blank in vol.II, appreciable soiling or browning to outer or lower margins of B6-8 in vol.I and B6-7 and I4-5 in vol.II.) Original green cloth-backed drab paper boards, paper spine-labels (extremities bumped, labels rubbed). Provenance: Rev.Thomas Welton, Olney, Bucks. (letterpress booklabel). FIRST EDITION. The Ashley catalogue copy of vol.II appears to have had the fly-title to 'Poems' bound as a half-title. It is conjugate with the title and is here bound correctly: between the dedication and the page [1] of the Poems. A half-title to vol.I is therefore not required. Ashley III, pp.49-50.
