The cipher found on both these reliefs is thought to be the monogram of Raphael Tissenaken, a member of the Tissenaken family active in Malines in the late 16th and early 17th century. Raphael's father, Rombout, was also a printmaker, and it is thought that his prints provided the compositions for the family's reliefs in alabaster.
