After the war it was not easy for Rolls-Royce and its stablemate Bentley to turn from five years of frantic aero-engine production to sedate civilian transportation once more. The Mk VI Standard Steel Saloon made its debut in the Spring of 1946. It was a motor car of the utmost refinement providing brisk performance of up to 100mph and substantial luxury. Some customers however could afford to have more refined coachwork and this is a very early example of the work of H. J. Mulliner on the Mk VI chassis.
It has been in the present ownership, a former member of parliament, for the past 32 years. Over this period A.B. Price Ltd have continually serviced the engine and chassis. The coachwork however has been allowed to deteriorate through exposure to the elements outside the owners Belgravia house. Whilst it has not been used for several years, it has recently been checked over, said to go extremely well, and will be issued with an MoT by the sale date.
