Sunbeam Talbot Ltd, part of the Roots Group introduced this elegant new two seater sports car in 1960 reviving the Alpine name as used on their early 1950s sports cars. The Sunbeam Alpine utilised a number of components, including the engine from the then current Hillman Minx based Sunbeam Rapier saloon. The styling was very much in the American mode with long tail fins, curved windscreen and luxury internal fittings.
This 1968 Alpine is a series V model which introduced the more powerful 1725cc engine developing 100bhp and a top speed nearing 120mph. It had the all synchromesh four speed gearbox with overdrive. This example has been off the road for about three years, however the engine is in running condition and the owner feels there is a good chance it could pass an MoT. The paintwork is apparently poor and would benefit from a respray.
