A FINE QAJAR ENGRAVED AND DAMASCENED STEEL HELMET, SHIELD AND ARMGUARD, the domed helmet rising to a point with pendant fine chain mail in steel with brass link decoration, associated movable nose-guard and fixed plume sockets, the gently convex shield with four rounded bosses, both very finely engraved with scrolling flowering vine around lobed cartouches containing gold damascened scrolling vine flanking a central engraved animal combat group. the helmet with a border of flowerhead and bird cartouches, the shield with central roundel depicting a mounted huntsman grappling a lion, the broad border with cartouches engraved with animal combat groups alternating with bird roundels, the armguard with engraved flowering vine enclosed within gold damascened arabesque bands, associated chain mail hand cover, shield and armguard with padded lining, early 19th century
