A FINE EAST PERSIAN SILVER AND COPPER INLAID LARGE INKWELL BASE of very slightly tapering cylindrical form, a slight ridge below the cusped vertical rim, the sides with a broad band of inlaid floral sprays around cusped open floral interlace medallions alternating with vacant shaped cartouches for the attachment of handles, a band of scrolling vine around a fine and detailed naskh silver inlaid inscription above and below, the rim with a band of plaiting, the base with a central silver inlaid roundel containing a hexagonal lattice within three cartouches of scrolling vine around paired animals; a cheetah stalking a goat, a feline chasing a donkey and a wolf biting a hare, 13th century (some inlay missing, originally with three feet and lid)
