A PAIR OF D.B. FLINTLOCK PISTOLS with rebrowned twist sighted barrels each with recessed patent breech, gold-lined maker's stamp, gold line and gold-lined touch-hole, finely engraved tangs, signed and engraved detented bevelled locks each with roller, rainproof pan, and engraved safety-catch, the steels engraved 'Joseph Manton Patent' and numbered from 505 to 508 (two top jaws and screws replaced, three cocks repaired), figured walnut half-stocks (one fore-end repaired), chequered butts, finely engraved iron mounts, silver escutcheons engraved with a crest and coronet, and later horn-tipped ramrods: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories including three-way flask covered in red leather, the lid with trade label, flush-fitting carrying handle, and circular escutcheon engraved with same crest and coronet as the pistols, by Joseph Manton, No. 3017 for 1803
