A FINE OVER-AND-UNDER FLINTLOCK OFFICER'S PISTOL with rebrowned twist octagonal barrels, the top one sighted and signed in gold, each breech with two gold lines and gold-lined touch-hole, scroll engraved case-hardened tang, engraved case-hardened locks each with blued external mainspring, 'French' cock (right top jaw and screw replaced), engraved safety-catch, and rainproof pan, chequered figured walnut butt, scroll engraved silver mounts including pommel with iron 'skull-breaker', blued triggers, vacant gold escutcheon, later iron ramrod, and some original finish, with its original figured walnut attachable shoulder-stock, and an over-and-under single-trigger percussion pocket pistol, converted from flintlock, with blued octagonal barrels, engraved silver mounts, gold escutcheon and pommel-cap (left mainspring replaced), and much original finish, the trigger-guard numbered '1': in its original fitted mahogany case lined in blue velvet with two three-way flasks covered in red leather, the lid with large trade label and flush-fitting carrying handle (corner compartment damaged, lid missing), by Joseph Egg, No.1 Piccadilly, London, No.s 2423 and 2291, the officer's pistol with London silver hallmarks for 1819 12in. and 6¼in.
