A PARIS GOLD-GROUND BALUSTER VASE, the two matt and burnished gilt angular loop handles with elaborate grape-vine and anthemion terminals, painted with a maiden and a boy in an extensive mountainous landscape, she seated beneath a tree with an instrument as the child plays the pipes beside her, the reverse with a maiden seated on a grassy mound in a clearing with distant mountains, drying her hair and dangling her foot in the water, the ground tooled with diaper-pattern, the flared neck tooled with urns of fruit festooned with drapery, the lower body tooled with stiff leaves and the spreading stem with scale-pattern, on a square base (wear and slight scratches to gilding), circa 1820
