This model by Moigniez is very much in the style of Mêne. It's companion piece of a pointer in the same pose but facing to the right, with a partridge in the undergrowth at it's feet, was exhibited in plaster at the Exposition Universelle in 1855 and at the Salon in 1859 in bronze.

Another example was sold at Sotheby's, London, 15th March 1991, lot 4.
