A CANTON IVORY SEWING BOX WITH LINER AND UTENSILS
circa 1800
Of rectangular shape with canted hinged cover, elaborately carved overall in high relief with lively scenes of figures among pavilions beside trees, carriages and leisure boats, all supported on four lion-paw feet, the interior fitted with a liner containing open and covered compartments with spools and spindles, tools and thimbles, needles, a flask and boxes, some with further carving, the box with metal fittings, the key missing, minor age cracks
