AN YIXING SQUAT CYLINDRICAL TEAPOT AND COVER
qianlong six-character mark and probably of the period
The purplish-brown body moulded at the side with a lotus pond, divided by a short angular spout and a loop handle imitating bamboo segments, the flat circular cover inscribed around the rim in seal-script characters and surmounted by a small ring finial, minor rim chips
6¾in. (17cm.) wide

Lot Essay

The six-character sealmark is impressed at the base of the pot, while the inscription on the cover consists of two concentric lines of characters, part of which translates as '... made for Imperial Use'
