A GERMAN CAVALRY SWORD with double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section at the base changing to flattened diamond, the forte lightly etched with arabesque scrollwork, Turk's heads and the name 'Adamvs Weigeli', iron hilt comprising slender knuckle-guard with double moulding, double oval ring-guards filled with pierced plates, the outer one drawn up to the pommel to form a side-bar with double central moulding, rear quillon, thumb-ring, globular pommel, and later wire-bound grip; and another, with double-edged blade inlaid with latten running wolf mark on one side, iron hilt with double side-rings, the large outer one filled with a pierced plate, thumb-ring incorporating a small plate, globular pommel, and wooden grip (wire-binding missing, both rust patinated), both mid-17th Century
