Arjuna Wiwaha
細節
Ida Bagus Nyoman Boeda (Batuan, active 1936-1942)
Arjuna Wiwaha
Wash technique and watercolour on paper, black ink framing lines, framed and glazed.
75 x 50 cm.
The subject is taken from the Mahabharata epic (for the same subject see also lots 101 and 150). The present lot may be compared with a drawing of almost the identical subject included in the exhibition Collectie Moderne Balische Kunst, held at the Bandoengsche Kunstkring, Bandung, in 1936, which served as the front cover illustration of the catalogue. In addition the present lot compares to a composition illustrated in: Rudolf Bonnet, Djawa, "Kunst in Gianjar", vol. 16, 1936. Boeda (or Buda) adopted the name Ida Bagus Nyoman Tjeta (Ceta) after 1936, when he became a member of the Pita Maha artists' association. Boeda may have been a name that Bonnet used to distinguish him from others.
