The case with brass-capped swan-neck pediment to the hood, outset fluted columns, the hood with canted angles flanking an elaborately carved door with Gothic arch top, the plinth carved with anthemions and raised on a wavy skirting, the 13in. white dial painted with a bird amidst flowers to the arch and with fruit to the spandrels, the white centre with subsidiary seconds ring and arch date aperture, Roman chapters, black painted hands (hour and seconds later), some retouching, with falseplate stamped WALKER & HUGHES to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 87¾in. (223cm.) high
